CAMP

Room 5 spent 2 nights camping overnight at school this week, and we managed to cram in an incredible amount of activities during this time. The focus of camp was to get to know each other better, to explore the key competency 'Relating to Others', and to have an awesome time!

Each day began with an early morning 'boot camp' style run followed by a quick plunge and a few laps in the pool. During school time we examined our own personal traits; created a class code of conduct; learned about inspirational leaders such as Nelson Mandela and Mahatma Gandhi; presented our interesting artefacts to the class; and acted out a number of role play scenarios.

Team activities included 'The Amazing Race' and a technology challenge where teams created a Room-5-style NZ flag and flagpole, and sports night consisted of swingball, golf, quoits and 4-a-side soccer challenges. We read from the fascinating book 'Wonder' by R J Palacio and watched the moving NZ film 'Flight of the Albatross', both of which include aspects of our key competency focus.

We can't wait for our 5-day camp at Castlepoint later on in the year! Here are a few photos from camp:
